James A. Hasso serves as Head of Capital Formation and Strategic Initiatives and as a member of the Board of Directors at Buxton Helmsley, where he contributes extensive expertise in institutional equity portfolio management, corporate advisory, and capital markets strategy. With decades of experience analyzing and investing across all major industry sectors, he brings critical investment insight and strategic perspective to both the firm's capital formation efforts and its governance. Given his dual role in capital formation and Board governance, Mr. Hasso does not serve on the Audit Committee or the Nominating and Governance Committee, and any future committee assignment would require approval by a majority of the Board's independent directors.
Before joining Buxton Helmsley, Mr. Hasso founded One44 Advisory & Consulting, providing comprehensive advisory services to institutional clients on profitability, operating stability, and stock-return strategy. He previously served as Managing Director and Head of U.S. Small Cap Equities at Voya Financial (formerly ING), where he led the firm's small cap and SMID cap investment strategies and covered thousands of companies across all major GICS industries. During his tenure at Voya, Mr. Hasso advised senior leadership through the firm's IPO transition from ING and represented ING's U.S. Division on the Global Strategy Committee during the Financial Crisis. He also engaged with the Federal Reserve, U.S. Treasury, FDIC, and other federal agencies in an advisory capacity on matters of financial reform. His earlier career includes investment roles at First Investors Corporation, Valenzuela Capital Partners, Mitchell Hutchins Asset Management, and Spears Benzak Salomon & Farrell.
Mr. Hasso holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Lehman College and a Master of Business Administration from Fordham University, where he also served as an adjunct professor at the Gabelli School of Business. He currently serves on the Board of Trustees of The New York Foundling and as Chair of its Investment Committee, is a member of the FTSE Russell Americas Regional Equity Advisory Committee, and is an active member of the Centennial Society of the Economic Club of New York. His combination of institutional investment leadership, government advisory experience, and civic engagement provides Buxton Helmsley with valuable strategic and governance perspective.
